The Munich financial center at a glance

The Free State of Bavaria and the greater Munich area in particular are among the most important financial centers in Europe. This applies to all areas of finance: banking and insurance transactions as well as to asset management activities, venture capital financing or leasing and factoring solutions. The financial sector is one of the leading drivers of growth in Bavaria and supports its strong real economy.

This is reflected by the fact that many outstanding companies in the financial industry already have their headquarters in Munich or elsewhere in Bavaria. Some of the main firms include the insurance groups Allianz, Munich Re and Nuremberg as well as the big banks HypoVereinsbank and BayernLB.

They all represent a branch of industry that is one of Bavaria's indispensable growth drivers – and one that is actively represented to the outside world by the Munich Financial Center Initiative. In the fpmi, large companies, organizations and institutions in the financial and real economy as well as the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs have joined forces with the aim of highlighting the importance of Bavaria as a financial center and making its proposals resonate more strongly.
