Genossenschaftsverband Bayern serves as the umbrella organization for 1,162 cooperatives and cooperatively-based companies. These have a total of some 2.7 million members.
Among these cooperatives are 300 credit unions (total balance sheet sum of €123.6 billion); 656 rural cooperatives providing products and services and with a turnover of €4.97 billion; and 242 cooperatives providing products and services to business customers and with a turnover of €6,7 billion.

Genossenschaftsverband
Bayern is the association legally charged with auditing all companies legally
constituted as registered cooperatives in Bavaria. In addition to fostering its
members' development and promoting their interests, the association's range of
responsibilities include the provision of auditing, consulting and educational
services and programs to them. The proficiencies of the association's some 700
staff members make the association a center of expertise. This knowhow is
employed to facilitate the successful operation by Bavaria's cooperatives.
