Private Equity/Venture Capital
Bavaria is the most important German federal state for the venture capital and private equity industry. Around 50 VC and private equity companies have their headquarters in Munich. In 2004, the risk capital issuers placed about 28 percent of their investments, or 757 million euros, in Bavaria. That is the highest annual amount they have ever invested in a single German federal state.
The preeminent position for risk capital companies is a direct result of Bavaria's major importance in the fields of IT, medical and biotechnology, and the service sector. These are the industries that traditionally draw many venture capital and private equity funds.
