Munich: the most powerful brand among Germany’s cities

Cities can be compared to brand names, in
that each has come to stand for a set of desirable – and hence valuable –
characteristics.
To ascertain the brand value of Germany’s 34 leading cities (all those
with populations greater than 250,000 and/or capitals of the country’s
states), the Hamburg-based Brandmeyer brand consultant joined with
Konzept & Markt and Public Marketing in polling 2,000 persons
located all over the country.
The results: “Munich” is the most valuable brand name among Germany’s
cities. Number two is Berlin. Munich also finished first in two
categories comprising the overall ranking: as most family-friendly city
in Germany and the one enjoying the best image among people of 50 and
above. The young (up to 29) gave Munich a strong second place.
