Munich is Germany’s capital of
publicly listed companies. That’s the finding of a study conducted by
"Börse Online", the German financial industry portal. Confirming the
other number one rankings accorded to the city, the study first
categorized Germany’s 526 leading publicly listed companies – of which
the 30 most important are comprised in the Deutscher Aktienindex
(DAX-Germany’s Dow Jones) – by the cities in which their headquarters
are located.
The study then added up, on a city-by-city basis, the market
capitalizations of the DAX blue chips located in them. The results:
Munich’s DAX blue chips have a total market capitalization of €205
billion – by far the largest of any city in Germany. "Munich is
capital’s hometown," concludes Börse Online.
Munich’s total was some €63 billion greater than number two Düsseldorf’s
€142 billion. Finishing number three and four were also-rans Bonn (€81
billion) and Frankfurt (€64 billion).
